STEPS PRIOR TO ABORTION
There are several things you should know the answers to if you’re considering getting an abortion.
1. Confirm Your Expectancy
First, you need to ascertain if you are actually pregnant. Even though up to 25% of pregnancies result in a spontaneous miscarriage, your pregnancy test results could still be positive. The earliest method of confirming a pregnancy is an ultrasound, which we provide together with medical-grade pregnancy tests.
2. Calculate Your Current Length of Time
The type and cost of an abortion vary according to the stage of pregnancy you are in. You will receive this information following the results of your pregnancy test.
3. Understand the Procedure
Our counselors will provide information on both surgical and pharmaceutical abortion, or the abortion pill. We will talk to you about your situation.
The two abortion methods at our clinic
The abortion pill (Medical Procedure)
Using two distinct medications to end a pregnancy is commonly referred to as the “abortion pill” (medical procedure). An abortion that is performed medically is one that is supported by several oral or vaginal medicines. It works by stopping the pregnancy’s progression and inducing the uterine lining to shed. This type of abortion can be performed as soon as the pregnancy starts and up until approximately nine weeks have gone.
Up to nine weeks into a pregnancy, abortions can be obtained under medical supervision. You can do it as soon as you find out you are expecting. Your doctor will use an ultrasound to find out whether and how long you are pregnant. If you are more than nine weeks along in your pregnancy, there are other options for ending it. Your healthcare provider can help you decide which option is ideal for you by going over other options with you.
Surgical Abortion (In Clinic Abortion)
If the starting day of your most recent menstrual cycle was fewer than fourteen weeks ago, you may be able to have a surgical abortion (also known as a vacuum aspiration abortion) in less than one day. At the doctor’s office, oral painkillers and local anesthesia are given before to the treatment.
When you are totally at peace, the doctor, health educator, or doctor-in-training will ask you to remove your clothes from the waist down and change into a patient gown. Your support system can be there for you at all times.
Surgical abortion is more frequently available than medicinal abortion, also known as “the abortion pill,” later in a pregnancy. However, state laws and the policies of the clinic or hospital you visit will determine how late in pregnancy you can receive an abortion.
